After graduating from Imperial College, London with an honours degree in Metallurgy (BSc. Hons), I worked on computer-aided design projects for a London based software house, prior to becoming involved in the Lloyd's of London insurance market. This was initially through a large broker, and then at Sherwood, one of the leading insurance software specialists.
At Sherwood, I was responsible for the development of many innovative large-scale, financially successful products deployed across a varied and demanding client base. I was group Product Development Director at the time the company floated on the Unlisted Securities Market and went on to become R&D Director.
In the early 90's I moved to a rapidly growing Lloyd's underwriting agency as IT Director where I was responsible for the introduction and development of new systems within the group and for the financial control of all operational IT systems. The more recent systems required the use of the latest Internet and Intranet technologies needed for E-commerce development. I am currently at another agency, responsible for their recent data conversions and ongoing IT developments, including portal and document managent deployment.
I am also a Fellow of the Institute of Directors.
